September 8, 2012: Prepping Steve For The Martian Invasion

Some of you might be curious about the process behind designing for Munchkin, so I thought I'd give you a little behind-the-scenes glance at some of our prep work.

To help Steve get his brain in gear for Munchkin Apocalypse: Mars Attacks, we had to go back to the source -- the original trading cards from 1962 that started the whole craze. Fortunately, Topps has reprinted them, so they're easy to find. However, Mars Attacks is a set of collectible trading cards, meaning that the only way to assemble a full set is to buy a bunch of individual packs.

So we did. Retailer-sized boxes, with 24 packs each.

After much opening and sorting, we ended up with a full deck of the originals for Steve. But, as this picture shows, it took some doing -- just another day in the glamorous life of the Munchkin Hireling.

Steve's extremely excited about this set, and we are too. Hope you enjoyed the glance behind the curtain!
