No, really. Check it out.

March 22, 2003: Back From GAMA

And at some point we'll post a photo or two. Executive summary: It went very, very well. Kudos to the GAMA show management for bearing up under the load of twice as many retailers as expected, and still hosting a good event. Thanks to the WizKids guys for providing such a great freebie that it (I suspect) was responsible for at least a couple of hundred of those extra bodies. Thanks to both our booth crew (for dealing with such a crowd that at one point the line for our stuff went around the corner and three booths back) and those who stayed behind and put together an emergency shipment of 300 more retailer packets and a like number of Munchkin Monster Manual, Transhuman Space hardbacks, and Valor and Snarl dragons (yes, we were being generous with the freebies, too).

It went well, indeed. Now wait till NEXT year!

March 21, 2003: It's What's Inside That Counts

Illuminated Site of the Week: Hostage takers are pretty quick to ask for a million dollars without considering the practicalities. How much does it weigh? How much space does it take up? Find out How Much Is Inside?

And that's not all. How many ping-pong balls fit into a Chevy Trailblazer? How much blood does the human body hold? And if you never gotten around to squeezing out your toothpaste end-to-end, they've done the hard work for you.

March 15, 2003: Getting Rid Of The F-Word

So the U.S. House of Representatives has formally removed "French fries" from the menu in its cafeteria. Now it's "Freedom fries."

They've been criticized for wasting their time. I beg to disagree. The last thing I read about the House passing was a bill to outlaw all human cloning research. If that's what they do when they are "serious," I would FAR rather they occupy themselves by insulting the French.

Hmm, can I help?

Okay. French bread will now be Bush bread.

French kisses will now be Liberty Lip-Locks.

Plaster of Paris will continue to honor its source, but will now be Plaster of Parasites.

And French blue will now be "Condition: Secretary Ridge Says No Terrorists Under The Bed But Buy Duct Tape Anyway Blue."

Hope that helps, y'all. If you read this into the Congressional Record, be sure to spell my name right.

March 12, 2003: Off To GAMA, Real Soon Now

The GAMA show - the trade show of the "adventure game" business - is next week in Las Vegas. If you're a retailer, we hope you're planning to attend . . . come see us. If you're anyone else, please cut us a bit of slack next week, because we'll be out of town, with irregular access to the net and a lot on our minds. But it'll be fun. This is our best chance to actually talk to our friends in the industry, because at the big summer conventions, even if everyone is there, the chances are good that you'll never see them for more than four seconds at a time. At GAMA, there's a chance to sit down and talk for, gee, maybe as much as four minutes . . .
