Conversions

Modern through Space:

Again, lovely singers really don't change that much. Just fix tech levels. Considering her skill in singing, she may have Comfortable wealth, and Literacy will become free.

"You are a traveling entertainer, wandering Megalos with your older brother, Soren. You are very talented, with an excellent singing voice, and a natural talent for anything musical. You also have keen hearing, can read and write, and tend to impress people both due to force of personality and your appearance. When you talk, people listen - especially men."

"On the other hand, you do have a few minor problems. You've always been able to do anything you wanted with your music, and you now expect to be able to do anything just as easily - all problems can be dealt with simply. In addition, you have a regrettable tendency to act without thinking - if you get an idea, go with it."

"A few years ago, when you and your brother were in Araterre, you both picked up the new style of swordfighting used there (fencing). Naturally, you're a lot better at it than he is. (He just uses it to impress the tavern wenches, it seems.)"

From a different convention-game, the writeup was . . .

"You are a traveling bard, wandering much of Caithness, a land to which you feel a strong attachment [Sense of Duty disadvantage]."

[[She had a higher level Sense of Duty for that game . . . ]]

"You are a very talented bard, with an excellent natural singing voice [Voice advantage], and a natural talent for anything musical [Musical Ability +5, affects several of your skills, already computed on your character sheet]. You also have keen hearing [Acute Hearing +1, for a hearing roll of 15], can read and write [Literacy], and tend to impress people both due to force of personality [Charisma +3] and your appearance [Attractive]. When you talk, people listen.

"On the other hand, you do have a few minor problems. You've always been easily able to do anything you wanted with your music, and you now expect to be able to do anything just as easily - all problems are simply dealt with [Overconfidence disadvantage]. In addition, you have a regrettable tendency to act without thinking - if you get an idea, go with it [Impulsiveness disadvantage]. Finally, you don't like to fight - you can do it, but only if the other party starts it [Pacifism: Self-defense Only].

"Your primary skills are musical - Singing and Musical Instrument (Harp). In these, you are the match of almost any but the best. In addition, you have the Bard skill (story-telling, public speaking, and general entertainment), Acting (both playing a role and generally faking emotions, personalities, and mimicing voices, also good for lying convincingly), Diplomacy (lets you gauge other people's likely reactions, and pick proper approaches),Fast-Talk (conning people, can substitute for a reaction roll), Literature (general knowledge of histories, stories, etc.), Poetry (the ability to compose it), Savoir-Faire (getting along in high society, can be used in place of a reaction roll in such circumstances), and Sex Appeal (the ability to influence the opposite sex, can be used in place of a reaction roll). You also have a few combat skills: Fencing (use of foil, rapier or saber, gives a better parry, can attack to disarm, but your weapon is thin and may break when parrying a heavy weapon), Fast-Draw (Sword) (lets you draw your saber and attack in the same turn with a successful skill roll), Knife (for close-in fighting), and Brawling (to handle yourself better in tavern brawls, or with over-amorous males - damage 1d-1 crushing, parry hand-to-hand of 8). Finally, for when you or others get injured, you have First Aid/TL3 (repairs 1d-3 damage after a fight)."
