The reverse of it might come along, depending on if anybody finds this at all interesting. Comments not just welcome, but actively sought after. Novalis Djinn Demon Princess of Lust "The world is full of wants and needs that controls it Is that really such a bad thing?" History: After the Fall, one went willing into exile with the failed rebels and chose to accompany them to comfort them as best she could. In the timeless period locked in with the followers of the Lightbringer, the methods for giving that comfort changed gradually as did the reasons for give it. When the First Incursion finally happened, many in Heaven were appaled at what had become of the once pure and shining Novalis.. Outlook: In general, Novalis acts slowly. She is willing to bide her time and let things move into position before steping in for the "kill". The desires and needs of others are the leash by which she slowly binds them, snaring them and rotting away other connections through abandonment or disgust. As befits a Djinn, Novalis is -extremely- possessive of her Servitors yet is remarkably tolerant of them at times. She will listen to them up until the point that she makes a ruling, but her desisions are final. This attitude combined with the effect her very presence can have on most Celestials means that there are surprisingly few defections or Redemptions from her Servitors. Conversely, she takes betrayal as a personal insult and those who do so become targets for soul killing over almost any other goal. In the general activities of the War, Novalis' Servitors tend not to be on the front lines but instead act like a slow rot that contaminates everything that it touches. Often, by the time you realise on is there they have already taken control of key figures who now need them so much... Dissonance: While Novalis lets her Servitors to enjoy themselves, she frowns on those whose enjoyment breaks that which is her own property. It is dissonant for a Servitor of Lust to kill or strip a Force from any other servent of Lust without having been given permission by Novalis. Choir Attunements: Balseraph: Said to be the most imaginative lovers in Hell, these Balseraphs have mastered the art of the bending the truth in those areas which fall under the domain of Lust. These Liars may add their Etherial Forces to any roll to persaude or convince someone that some aspect of a errotic or sexual encounter is a good thing. This can apply to anything from explaining why it is okay to cheat on a partner, to persuading someone that trying out those bondage handcuffs for a while is a good idea. Djinn (Partially Restricted): The Djinn of Lust find it amusing that they can reverse the normal progression of things, making their victims come to them. They may add their Corporeal Forces to any check which causes physical pleasure to another, whether it be a massage or more initimate pursuits. Anyone to who they are attuned treats their touch as a Moderately Addictive drug. Those who are not Stalkers and who are granted this attunement merely gains the bonus to appropriate checks. Calabim (Restricted): Although having little use for Calabim in general, Novalis does have a few more subtle examples of the Band in her service. Those Calabim of Lust with this attunement can cause pleasurable pain, letting their lust for destruction seep into a victim. Any time that they deliberately hurt or injure an individual, they can make it register as a pleasurable sensation instead. Habalah (Partially Resitricted): Someone viewing a Habalah of Lust may find their bodies betraying them, their good sense overwhelmed by the raw desire one of these Punishers can put forth. Those with this band attunement may add their Celestial Forces to any attempt to arouse or cause lust in someone. Additionally, the Haballah may harmlessly ignore the effects of the Lust being projected at them, either from another Punisher or from the backlash of their own Resonance. Other Servitors of Lust may gain this attunement, but they only receive the bonus to appropriate rolls. Lilim (Restricted): Where the Punishers of Lust are raw furnances of desire, the Lilim in service to Lust have simply set their hooks in the libido of those around them. The Tempters with this attunment may attempt to detect any lustful Needs without eye contact and may add the value of the highest level Geas or Geas-hook they have on someone to the successful CD of Fast Talk, reaction or Seduction rolls aimed at them. Shedim: Through long experience with a variety of bodies, Shedim of Lust have learn how to make the most unnatural situations erotic. They may attempt to seduce anyone, regardless of circumstances or the other parties normal preferences, and indeed is often used by the Corruptors to degrade both their host and the one they seduce. This band attunement is often handed out to experienced Servitors of Lust as a reward for good service. Impudites (Restricted): Those humans who have had sex with an Impudite of Lust often feel that it leaves them feeling drained... Takers of Lust automatically succeed in resonance rolls to take Essence from someone they have had just has sex with, without having to Charm them first. Roll anyway for the CD of this attempt and possible Interventions Servitor Attunements: Promises, Promises By touching a target and spending one Essence, a single fact, duty or promise can be rendered irrelevent as compared to any pleasurable distraction. The victim may resist with a Will roll and the effect lasts for the demon's Ethereal Forces in hours. After the duration ends, the relevent peice of information resumes its normal importance if it is thought about or brought up. Just Walkin' Down the Street By spending one Essence, the demon can attract lustful attention to everybody within one hundred yards of an individual they can even if that person is doing something as mundane as simply walking down a street. Anybody within the area may resist the urge to look with a Will roll and their attention does not nessisarily remain caught unless there is somethign worthy of it. Unchained Urges By spending three Essence, the demon can invoke the lust in the heart of a person they touch. This is treated as though the victim had the Lustful Discord at a level equal to -their- Celestial Forces. This lasts for hours equal to the demon's Celestial Forces and is not resisted, even though the effects of the psuedo-Discord may be resisted normally. Distinctions: Knight of Hidden Desires The demon can detect with a glance whom an individual lusts after most and what they would be willing to do at most in order to have that lust fufilled. Captain of Poetry in Motion Every aspect of a Captain of Lust brings to mind primal desires, attracting the eyes and make other more helpul towards them. They gains two "virtual" levels of Charisma which do not count against the normal limits of how many level of Charisma one may have. These levels of Charisma apply equally to all Vessels the demon might have as well as their Celestial form. Baron of Tangled Heart Strings The Baron's of Lust can perform the Ethereal Song of Attraction at no Essence cost. Additionally, the effects of the Song will last for CD in days. Relations: Allied: Nybbas (Nybbas is Allied with Novalis) Assosiated: Malphas, Valefor (Malpahs, Lilith and Valefor are Assosiated towards Novalis) Neutral: All the others. (Haagenti, Kobal, Kronos and Vapula are Neutral towards Novalis) Hostile: Beleth, Haggenti (Asmodeus, Baal, Belial and Beleth are Hostile to Novalis) Enemy: Saminga (Saminga is an Enemy of Novalis) Basic Rites: Particpate in sexual activities for half an hour. Have physical harm result from a sexual distraction. Cause someones desire to overcome their better judgement. Chance of Invocation: 4 Invocation Modifiers: +1: Someone else with the Lustful Discord. +2: The victim of a sex crime who blames themself. +3: Ten people lusting after a single individual. +4: An "casting couch" which is in use. +5: A fight to the death over the "affections" of another. +6: Monia Lywnisk's famous dress. - - Richard Drysdale (merior@talk21.com) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Jul 2002 18:57:34 +0100 From: "Merior" Subject: Re: IN> New Choir (WARNING!) Actually, Saminga is not Stupid. How could he be stupid, when he, while not even a prince, managed to invent the very concept of Undeath, simply by studying the Embalming Processes of the Ancient Egyptians? Not even Vapula has that really figured out, since the only attunement he has that comes close to making Undead is "Reanimation", which allows to make Frankenstein-like monsters. You see, Saminga is a Demented Artistic Genius. He had the Epiphany of Death while studying the processes of Embalming, and has been pursuing this Artistic vision ever since. Fame, Fortune, Adventure... these mean nothing to him. Only the purity of his grandiose vision matters. Saminga isn't just interested in Killing. He surrounds himself with the trappings of death: He prefers the Undead to the Living as his servitors. Abaddon is covered in Cemetaries and Boneyards, Saminga's castle is a Mausoleum of Bones decorated in style that goes between "Gothic Funeral Parlour" and "Slaughterhouse Chic", and I'm quite certain that Saminga's taste in entertainment ranges from Tragic Poetry to Funeral Marches to Gore movies involving cannibalism, torture and graphic depictions of an Ebola Virus epidemic. All of it... the Undead, the Stylistics, the Killing Schemes... All are just various ways of serving his Word: Death. Saminga couldn't care less about kicking Lucifer off his Dark Throne, so long as he can pursue his "muse". And pursue it he does, no matter what anyone else says. Perhaps that's why Kobal likes Saminga. They both have such much in common: a Love for their Word so strong, they'll go up against anyone in pursuit of it's call... ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Jul 2002 15:05:42 -0700 (PDT) From: Michael Walton Subject: Re: IN> Weird Superior Challenge: Novalis, Demon Princess of Lust - --- Merior wrote: > Comments not just welcome, but actively sought after. Partially because I'm cheating outrageously on them. Dominique Seraph Archangel of Judgement General of Heaven's Armies The care of the world is our duty. We shall not--cannot fail. Uriel was recalled to the Higher Heavens by God in 494 A.D. The voice of God, not heard since the passing of the Metatron, granted the position to Dominique. All of Heaven was surprised, none more so than Dominique (at that time, still Dominic). Dominic put aside any personal doubts and threw himself into his work. He had to deal with Uriel's servitors, some of which were leaning towards rebellion. In an attempt to prevent a second rebellion, Dominic granted amnesty to those who would wish it. Several of Uriel's servitors took it, finding a new Superior. Just as many Tsaydim remained in the Marches, continuing Uriel's Purity crusade. After dealing with the Tsaydim, there was another Heavenly crisis. Michael had never forgiven Dominic for trying him for pride. He would obey God, but he would not submit in any way to the "hyena." Michael withdrew from most Heavenly affairs, his section of the Groves repositioned itself on the outskirts of Heaven. Troubled by this, Dominic consulted with the other Archangels and attempted to make amends for the good of Heaven. It did not change the situation. Dominic continued with his duties, both as Judgement and as Heaven's general. As time continued, he found as much of a balance between the two as he could. Then, the incident with Gabriel and Islam occured. Dominic had words with Gabriel, and the close relationship between the two superiors cooled slightly. Where the two had worked very closely before, they now cooperated less frequently, though the Archangel of Fire never did anything as drastic as Michael. It was shortly after this that Dominic (now Dominique) almost exclusively appeared in female form. Dominique was never considered as great a military leader as Michael, or even Uriel, but she was capable and willing to delegate tasks to those she thought were up to the job. Trust had never been easy for Dominique after the Fall, but she has grown to trust most of the other Archangels and many of her servitors, especially her highest ranking servitor, the Angel of the Sword, Laurence. Her duties are a heavy burden, but she shoulders them without complaint. One fear that looms in the back of her mind is that the tenures of the previous two generals of Heaven ended by her hand. She scrutinizes her own performance when she has time (a rare occurance), ready to submit herself for trial should she find herself lacking. Dissonance As per canon Dominic, servitors of Judgement gain dissonance for inflicting a punishment greater than the crime. In addition, servitors of Judgement gain a point of dissonance for knowingly failing to aid those serving Heaven if they are capable, their help is desired, and not under orders to complete another task that may conflict with this aid (usually because of a deadline to accomplish this task). Choir Attunements As per canon Dominic Servitor Attunements As per canon Dominic Distinctions As per canon Dominic Relations Dominique is less likely to meddle in the affairs of other Archangels. Certainly, she continues to take her duty to make sure that angels are not in danger of Outcasting or Falling, but unless the circumstances are particularly bad, she informs the angel's superior of its status. Michael still nurses his grudge against her, and Gabriel is distant to her, though Dominique treats them as she would any other Archangel. Novalis is almost her confidante, and the two work closely when it comes to possible Redemption cases. Yves is like a wise mentor, and Raphael is likely to bring any relevant fact to her attention, should it be necessary. David and Janus work with her on tactical points, she trusts them to be able to accomplish what she asks. Dominique is slightly worried about Eli's extended absence, but she trusts him to do the right thing. Allied: Novalis, David (David and Novalis are allied with Dominique) Associated: Yves, Raphael, Gabriel, Janus (Marc, Yves, Raphael, and Janus are associated with Dominique) Neutral: All others Hostile: None (Michael and Khalid are hostile to Dominique) Chance of Invocation: 1 Unlike canon Dominic, Dominique does not check on her servitors once a week. Regular checks are often performed by a local triad. Members of a triad are regularly (about once a month) visited by a Vassal of Conscience. There is still a definite structure and internal checks of Judgment servitors, and all reports go to Dominique, but she does not make all visits by herself. +1 A law book or copy of a penal code +2 A judge's gavel +3 A law library of at least 10,000 titles (not in electronic format) +4 A piece of critical evidence in an important trial +5 The plans of a demon to further the cause of Hell +6 A renegade willing to Redeem or an outcast repenting and wishing Heaven's forgiveness And, now for her number two... Notable songs include Tongues (all realms /6), Shields (all realms /6), and Dreams (all realms /6). Attunements: All of the available (i.e. not restricted) Judgment choir attunements, Malakite of Stone, Incarnate Law, Heavenly Judgment, Vassal of Conscience, Friend of Judgment, Master of Law Angel of the Sword: this works as the Blade Blessing of Laurence as per the core rule book Rites: all of Judgment's rites and slay an evil creature (usable once a day and may be combined with the Judgment rite of slaying the vessel of a demon or fallen angel) Malakite Oaths: as per Laurence's expanded write-up in Superiors 1 Laurence was originally a malakite of purity, serving Uriel. He faithfully served Uriel and served him well. During the Purity Crusade, Laurence was a chief lieutenant of Uriel's, and he killed several dangerous Ethereals (the ones with no redeeming features). Then, Uriel was recalled to the Higher Heavens, and his world was shattered. Uriel, who had been his focus during his entire existence, was gone. Laurence seriously considered staying in the Marches and continuing Uriel's work, but could not bring himself to turn his back on Heaven. He took up service with Dominic (as Dominique was known then), feeling that respect towards the position of Commander of the Host was deserved. He was accepted into the service of Judgment, providing tactical advice that Heaven's new general was more than willing to listen to. Laurence grew to respect Dominique, but after a while, he realized that his feelings went beyond that. Somehow, he had fallen in love with his superior. Such a thing is more common than admitted, but Dominique had always been an Archangel that was more respected than loved by her servitors. Laurence's feelings drove him to perform extraordinary services for Judgment. His exploits were impressive enough that Michael is willing to consider a request from him, even though he normally disregards anyone associated with Judgment. Laurence became Dominique's highest ranking servitor, as well as her indispensible aide in all matters military. He personally takes it upon himself to guard her on the Corporeal realm, even though she is quite capable of taking care of herself. He watches her and has resigned himself to remaining silent to her about his feelings. It is conceivable that Laurence could make the jump to become a minor Archangel. Certainly, he would have the support of enough of the Seraphim Council. However, this would take him from the side of Dominique, and he knows how much she needs him and he needs her. Laurence is not at all balanced and unsuitable for use as a PC. He is suitable as an immediate supervisor for angelic PCs. He is also suitable as a romantic project for PCs who go for that thing and wish to match everyone with their true love. All comments welcome. I'm planning that the Gabriel and Michael connections will be next, but I've had the urge to do a corruption of another Stone's song and may go for that instead. Um...not quite. I've got my SongBook with me, and it's not mentioned ANYWHERE in text about any semblence of a Grigori Angel of Song. The closest mention is... "Israfel is an ancient and venerated angel, who has dedicated herself (in the past, himself) to the performance, study, and Word of Music. She takes the widest possible view of her Word, concerning herself with every aspect of music from Songs and the Symphony to a child banging on a pot with a spoon." --Liber Canticorum, pp 8-9 >I'd give you a reference if I had my books with me. I believe that she's >mentioned in passing in LC in the text on Israfel. The only angels mentioned in conjunction with Israfel are Dominic and Shiloh. Israfel and Dom are both Seraphim. Shiloh's an Elohite. Kamika-Z, curious nonetheless... > >===== >Michael Walton, #US2002023848 > "Communism doesn't work because >people like to own stuff." -- Frank Zappa > >__________________________________________________ >Do You Yahoo!? >Sign up for SBC Yahoo!
