The first examples of this artifact were believed to be creations of Eli, though no-one has been able to reach him for comment on the subject as of yet. They universally appear as cars, usually of dubious quality, but this hides two qualities: 1) They never run out of gas, and 2) They are astonishingly hard to actually break.

At level 1, this means they never show any more dents than they already have (see below), and will probably never need a tune-up. By the time you reach level 6 you could drop it off a cliff and find it at the bottom untouched. This, of course, makes them very popular with servants of the Wind, Theft, Creation and, surprisingly, Lightning.

On the other hand, there's a price. A small one, but a price nonetheless: All Hoopty cars have 'floating flaws', a number equal to their level. These flaws are usually minor and never keep the car from operating, but can be most unusual: strange sounds or smells, startup requirements (like that it won't turn on unless you turn the brights on first), or nearly anything else. These flaws can be fixed, unfortunately doing so will result in a new flaw replacing it. Still, it's a small price to pay for a reliable ride.
