Shannon HoodTL 11 Freelance AssassinTotal: 100 points Dark-blond, close-cropped hair; green eyes; very tanned skin. (Think all those beer and cigarette commercials with the tan woman in the bikini - only dressed in a matte-black reflex-armor biosuit and moving like a snake . . . or snake-killing mongoose.) Looks somewhere between 20 and 40 years old, though with clones available, You Never Can Tell. Attributes: 80 points.ST 9, DX 14, IQ 14, HT 10. Advantages (31 points):Beautiful, Absolute Direction, Absolute Timing, Double-Jointed, Reputation +1 (competent assassin, to underworld types, recognized sometimes, 1 point). Disadvantages (-40 points):Enemy (Law Enforcement types, rarely, -10 points), Enemy (Bodyguards, rarely, -5 points), Fear of Insects (mild), Secret (that phobia - assassins aren't supposed to fear anything; it would turn into a -2 Reputation: "Scared of bugs"; -5 points), Addiction (DX Adders; daily, cheap, illegal w/out prescription; -10 points). Quirks (-5 points):Lesbian*; Won't be part of someone's "retinue"; Usually approaches the client herself; Only kills other criminals (and prefers high-up ones); Known for unusual modus operandi. (*I find this squicks guys, for some reason. They think they can't do a "James-Bond/Jim-Kirk" on her, I guess, and that scares them? <evil grin>) Languges:New Garavaran-14, Thral (M/A)-12 (0.5). (* Goes to a 12 when her Rep is known.) Conversions:Fantasy:Everybody's favorite scary character . . . Just switch Electronic Operations (Security Systems) for Lockpicking, add a few little goodies like Poisons, and otherwise modify the skills for the Tech Level. The Addiction could be to some alchemical dexterity-booster, but either the point value will then go way up, or the addiction should be to a weekly dose (use the cost of the elixer divided by 7 as the "daily cost"). Modern:Fix up Tech Level skills, substituting Poisons for Force Sword; raise the point cost for some of those Enemies (figure they're after her more) and remove the Addiction - TL11 DX-Adders are relatively safe; TL7 "uppers" are not, and while Shannon may be a psychopath, she's not stupid. Near Future:Same changes as Modern, unless DX-Adders aren't very dangerous over the long-term; consider replacing Addiction with On The Edge. Add on some cyber-enhancements, such as drug-injectors, retractable claws, or anything else that's not instantly obvious and will give people the willies when they find out about it. Shannon Hood is one of those "ethically challenged" people you don't want to meet in a dark alley . . . Or a rooftop resteraunt, for that matter - the drug-lord she'd been hired to "remind" about late payments just sort of tripped . . . Shannon is a nice, stylish villianess - she doesn't go in for crass threats, and innocent bystanders are generally safe, physically (though Shannon might make a casual pass at some sweet, innocent-looking girl). She really does only go after other criminals, usually by dropping someone a note along the lines of: "I hear you have a problem with [so&so]." Besides the little bout of defenestration from a roof, she's wanted on Unar for an incident involving a crossbow bolt through a Unar crimelord's skull (while he visited a museum, yet), and on New Garavar for decapitating someone with a force-sword in his office and wandering off with the head (that client often sent "reminders" to deadbeats - said reminders being parts of previous deadbeats). She would be wanted on Thral in conjunction with an aircar explosion, but 1: that link wasn't very clear, and 2: aircars explode on Thral all the time, so the cops have more profitable things to investigate. She's not very good as a PC, unless all the other PCs are equally amoral (yet following her somewhat quirky "code of honor"), and will mostly serve as a "bad guy" NPC. It's possible that she might "go undercover" to get at someone, of course, or that she might be encountered in some innocous way - she's not the sort of criminal who hangs out a shingle, and is off-duty much of the time. If the PCs are going to encounter her "at work," figure that she's researched her target pretty thoroughly, made decent plans, and has access to a fair amount of high-tech gear. She's not super-human (though she gives that impression), but she's not incompetent, either. She'll rarely try the same thing twice, but does seem to have a fondness for "low-tech" tricks as well as simple laser-blasts from behind. And for those PCs with the laser-sensors in their armor, remember: Shannon says, "Laser targeting is for wimps." Typical Quotes:"Mmmm. What's a lovely girl like you doing with a man like him?" "Mr. Tscheya, my client is wondering when you're going to return her calls." "Ah, the manager. <hands over some bills> There has been no disturbance here. The meal was excellent. <hands some more bills over> Please give my regards to the cooks." (Back to list of Space Characters) | |
