Conversions:

Fantasy

Arala gets Magery and a smattering of spells (possibly replacing her EK, if psi doesn't exist in the world), like Daze, Lightning, and Mind Reading. Invisibility is another good one. She might still be related to a fantasy version of Selene Holmes, but the effect of "the kid you didn't know you'd had" would be much harder to achieve. If you can get that to work, more power to you! Otherwise, perhaps Arala's a memento of a wild youth, handed over to her sire and all but forgotten about.

Modern

Alter TLs to fit. Maybe she was raised by gypsies? <grin> The Klepto becomes her own little disad, rather than adopting the racial disads of her foster parents. Still hard to get the "unexpected kid" trick to work, though.

Near Future

Alter TLs to fit. The "kid she didn't know she had" works well again - maybe a rival corporation wanted to have their own computer-genius who wasn't obviously "stolen genes"? Either it was piracy of a gengineer's work, or Arala was fast-grown and educated with dream-game tech like a bio-android. (See GURPS Robots or the Roleplayer article for details.) However, Arala wasn't the loyal little computer genius that they'd expected, so she escaped and now she's a loose cannon . . .

Aralanoomi Moriarty is genetically human, but she's got a Sparrial's soul (or maybe two or three, if she could figure out how to steal them). Her father (a not un-successful Sparrial author who re-wrote the Sherlock Holmes canon from Moriarty's point of view) hatched a plan to gain him and his lifemate big status - they'd steal something from the closely-guarded gene-banks on the colony world of New Garavar! By chance (or was it?), the genes they hijacked belonged to a 15-year-old who was none too pleased to be leaving Byte for even that short genetic duty - Selene Holmes [timeline B]. About 15 years later, Selene got even less pleased (as did the gene-banks . . .), when Arala electrokinetically snarfed the credcard numbers of one of Selene's employees and went on a three-planet-wide spending spree.

Arala's a severe embarassment for her gene-mother - and thinks that's great. She's got plans.

Typical Quotes:

"Hi! Whatcha doing? Ticket-sales for ships? Sounds neat! No, I'm not doing anything. Just hanging around, watching people work on the consoles. I like computers."

"Yes, I'd like to order three boxes of your best chocolates. The credcard number is 2X45 88RS 9U85 MMQ0 33W1. Agatha Mills. Thank you!"
