Steve Jackson Games Supports U.S. Troops With 5,000-Game Donation

Austin, TX – Steve Jackson Games has sent 5,000 games to United States and other coalition servicemen deployed in Iraq and Kuwait as a part of Operation Enduring Freedom. The games include many of SJ Games' most popular titles, including Car Wars, Chez Greek, X-Bugs, and the just-released card game about military life, Chez Grunt.

"We're honored to help any way we can," company founder Steve Jackson said. "We've always had a lot of fans in the armed forces, and we hope that when they get a little downtime from their mission, this will help them relax and feel a bit closer to home." While SJ Games publishes many different kinds of products, the games that are being donated are all board and card games, each one complete in itself.

The games were donated to the U.S. Army Community and Family Support Center (CFSC) in Kuwait. The CFSC provides oversight for Army Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) operations worldwide. Loren Wiseman of SJ Games said, "I checked with some of my friends in the military, and they all pointed me to the MWR department. They came through with all the information we needed." SJ Games has passed the MWR contact information to many other adventure game companies, as well as the Science Fiction Writers Association, in hope that other publishers will follow their lead.
